Anti-Valentine Day

Valentine day nails are starting to pop up, so I decided to do an anti-Valentine mani instead.

I started off with a base coat of Chanel's Malice.  Malice is a deep red with a subtle red shimmer.

The application was lovely.  In the past I've had trouble with Chanel polish, I would always get really bad bubbles.  Now I know not to shake the bottle, but to roll it prior to application.

 This is two coats with no top coat, I didn't apply the top coat until after I stamped the design.

Next using the DRK-B plate and KleanColor in black I stamped the black hearts on to my ring finger.

 Jeez, with top coat they are super shiny.  They remind me of a candy apple.

Chanel - Cosmic

Cosmic is a special edition polish that is part of the Nuit Magique Collection.  These are a Macy's exclusive or can be purchased from Chanel for $27.

Cosmic is a black jelly with shimmers in blue and silver.  Even in direct sunlight the shimmer is well hidden.

The formula is a little thin, but it applied nice and smooth.    This is two coats, I tried a different QDTC and that is the reason for the shrinkage.

I thought it would look like Zoya Storm, but with blue.  Not even close.

 I went ahead and added a couple of Christmas designs using the Sugar Bubbles plate Special 002 and Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Silver Sweep

I got a few drag marks when I added the top coat.

Chanel Le Vernis in Tulipe Noire 457

So today I decided to go with one of my first Chanel polishes and that would be Tulipe Noire, it was released in the fall 2007 collection.

 It's a pretty burgundy with gold shimmer.

 This applied great, even after all this time it was smooth no lumps or bumps.

 This is two coats with CNDc Air Dry.

 And once again I can't leave anything alone so using the Cheeky Jumbo Plate 10 and Maybelline Bold Gold.

Chanel Le Vernis Orange Fizz 307

After yesterdays vampy Vesper I needed something summery and bright so I went with Chanel's Orange Fizz.

 Yet another great application, no bubbles or bald spots and nice size brush.  This is two coats with Nina Pro Quick dry top coat.

 It's such a nice light orange, like a creamsicle in a bottle.

 I purchased this at Nordstrom $27.

Chanel Le Vernis in Taboo

So I'm sure everyone is tired of all the hoopla about Chanel's Taboo.  People either love it or hate it.  Since I can't have enough vampy colors I had to order this.  I went with Nordstrom since they offer free shipping, it was $27. 

 So here it is with the other vampy colors, it is different, the shimmer more evident than in the others.

It does look like a galaxy on your nails, with the different colors and twinkly shimmer that is noticeable.

 It was nice even coverage, no bubbles in one coat, but I went with two with top coat for pictures.

 I really need to do my nails way before my little one's feeding time.  Those Gerber food containers always leave a dent when opening.

Chanel Le Vernis in Emprise

I am slowly incorporating neutrals into my nail polish collection.  I seem to get stuck in a rut. It used to be red-wine and than blue.  So this is a stretch for me.  I'm actually lucky that I got to see this pretty color in person or I probably wouldn't have ordered it.  The small town I live in only sells Dior so all other high end brands must be ordered.

As you can tell I wasn't comfortable using this color for a complete mani, so I focused on an accent nail stamped with  a Chanel stamp.

I really like this polish for it's simplicity.  It has just the right amount of shimmer, subtle, it's not in your face.  I finally learned how to apply Chanel polish.  I used to always get bubbles and shrinkage.  As long as a roll the bottle, not shake, and wait a little bit between thin coats, I'm good.  And no Seche Vite as a top coat.

So did you pick up anything from the spring line?

Chanel Azure and Essie Trophy Wife

So a few people have been wondering how close Essie's Trophy Wife is to Chanel's Azure.  From the bottle shots, they look similar.  

This is two coats with no top coat of both essie and Chanel

So I have essie on my index and ring finger and Chanel on the others.  Azure is actually lighter and more of a metallic finish.

To me essie is more of a turquoise while Azure leans towards teal.

They were both hard to photograph.

I do prefer Azure because it looks so bright.

So what do you think is Trophy wife close enough for you??

Chanel Le Vernis in Bel-Argus stamped Mani.

So I was lucky that a neighbor was kind enough to drop off my Chanel package that was left on his front door.  I guess I16 looks like G16.  Anyway I did a quick swatch yesterday.  I love the colors so much that I decided to do a quick stamped mani and comparison.

Here's a quick bottle comparison, with OPI Blue my mind.

So I used the OPI only on my thumb for comparison.  While it is a similar color the finish is different.

Next I stamped some butterflies using the Apipila P.2 plate(here) over Chanel Azure.

And here is the finished look.

Nail Mail 4/25/13

Snoopy Dance!!

There's nothing like going to the mail box and finding boxes in there.  It's like Christmas in April.  I only have two packages to show you today, but I'm still excited.

The first are nail stamping plates from My Online Shop.  Which you can purchase from Ninja Polish (here), for $18.75.

This is the Special Edition plate.  It is full of different cartoon characters like piglet, barney, Disney Princess's and I think this will be my favorite plate.

This is the Hello Kitty Plate.  I love the Hello Kitty as Darth Vador.

Plate Xll has the Mario's I've been looking for.

Plate X, I picked this one for the full nail designs.

So I'll be testing the images tomorrow, and I'll get back to you with the results:)

The second package is my mothers day gift from my girls, and it's from Chanel.  They have good taste. Living in a small town means any high end product needs to be ordered.  So I'll usually order from Chanel or my favorite Nordstrom.  The Le Vernis are now $27.

I got two of the Le Vernis from the new summer collection.   

Since I can't have enough blues or teals I picked Azure, and Bel-Argus.  

Just a quick swatch, they are so bright in real life.  I tried a butterfly mani, which was horrible but the colors looked great next to the black.  Will definitely be trying that again. 

 They are both metallic finishes which does make the application a little streaky.  You can still see the brush strokes; but I could just sponge on a third layer to get rid of the brush strokes.
