Zoya - Josie

During my last visit to Ulta I found alot of Zoya's in the clearance section.  I picked up Josie for $3.99.

Zoya describes Josie as a full coverage grassy green cream.  This looks a little lighter than it does on the website.

 The application was nice.  It went on nice and smooth and no streaks.

 This is two coats with top coat.

 A while ago I had purchased a square stamper from Fab Ur Nails.  It has a soft stamper pad so it has some give which works great when using plates with fine details.

 I used the Pro Collection 08 plate from MoYou and some Mundo de Uñas polish in mexican pink and cream(I think) to stamp some daisies.

 I'm still trying to get the hang of the stamper, I used a little to much umph and the designs spread out a bit.

 I really like how the cream and pink look against the green.

Strum My Heart-Strings Challenge - French Tip Technique

Tes, over at The Lacquered Landlubber, is having a Valentine's Day Challenge.  Today's challenge is to use the french nails technique.

Here is what I did:

I started off with 3 coats of O.P.I.'s  Don't Touch My Tutu!  This is pre-clean up and wow you can see how yellow my nails are.

I used some guides and 1 coat of Burberry Poppy Black to do the black tips.

I really like how this looks by itself.

Finally I added bright pink bows using Mundo dé Uñas Mexican Pink polish and Konad plate m3.

Burberry Poppy Black

While in Dallas I stopped into Nordstrom, just to browse the Burberry beauty counter.  Really I was just browsing.  I knew I had two polishes waiting for me at home and I just wanted to see the colors in person.  My sister came up to me and told me to pick one.  After a few no, no you don't have to; I picked Burberry Poppy Black.  

I know, I know.  I herd it from my sister.  Black really??  Yes, I went with Poppy Black and glad that I did.

Poppy Black is an extremely dark black creme polish.

 Burberry polish is sold at Nordstrom..  It retails for $21 for a .27oz bottle.  

 It has a nice rounded brush, but its not to wide.

 Formula wise, it is a bit on the thick side so I used two thin coat.  This really could be a one coat polish, it is that opaque.

 The polish dried fairly quickly and very shiny.  According to Nordstrom the polish should be dry in two minutes and completely hardened by six and a half minutes.

 I've been wearing this polish for 3 days now and not a single chip or tip wear.  I know I love Orly Black Vinyl but it does take a few coats for it to be opaque.  You got to love a long lasting, one coat black polish like Poppy Black. 

 For New Years I went ahead and used Handy plate N5 to add some firework designs to my nails.

Simple Green and Gold

I didn't have a lot of time to do my nails but I still wanted something festive.  So I went with  simple green and gold nails.

Started off with a base of China Glaze Jolly Holly, a gorgeous forest green.  Next I added Essie Good as Gold to my ring finger.

 You can see every ridge and bump when using metallic polish.  To help eliminate some of the ridges I  used a make up sponge to dab a layer of polish prior to TC.

 From  Múndo de Uñas, I used the plate Handy N5 to add the designs to two of my nails.

 I used the same polish to stamp the designs.

Adventures in Stamping Sunday Challenge

Today's challenge is to use a plate ending in the number 1.  I choose the Handy 31 from Mundo de Uñas.

I wanted the look of the old cartoons so I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as the base.   This is a white/grey creme polish from the Spider-man Collection.

 I used Handy 31 for the images, KC in black and SH Red-io Active polish to stamp.

 I went ahead and added Orly Black Vinyl just to add some color.

 I really like how well the Red-io Active shows up over the black.

Adventures in Stamping Sunday Challenge - Black Base

Today's challenge is to stamp over a black base.  

Started off with my favorite black polish, from Orly.

Then I went ahead and added a matte TC.

Using plate 220 from MoYou and Mexican Pink from Mundo de Unas I stamped the designs unto my nails.

Here is the finished look.   I really like how bright the pink shows up over the dark base.

 It's not even winter and my skin is so dry.  I'm using Gold Bond Intensive Hand Cream.  I think I might need to switch it up for winter.  Any suggestions?

Mundo de Uñas - New Stamping Polish

Sylvia Zambrano  from Mundo de Uñas,  has been busy working on some new stamping polish and they look great.  

She offers two size bottles, the larger bottle 14ml is $3 and the smaller bottle 5ml is $1.50.   Shipping is  from Mexico, the cost is around $12 for 4 - 8 bottles of polish to the U.S. and Canada.  

Here is a chart with all the stamping polishes she has for sale.  To place an order simply send her a message to her Facebook account(here), she's always very prompt.  While there check out the stamping plates she sells as well.

 Love how she swatched on the bottle so you can see how it's going to look over white and black.  So many stamping polishes look nice over a light color but when you try it over a dark base you don't get the same effect.  

Here are swatches of the four I'd bought, 12 cream, 13 Orange, 15 Mexican Pink and 24 Aqua.  The formula is on the thin side so you don't need to flood the image with polish.  A little goes a LONG way.  It does have a strong odor, according to my husband it smells like turpentine.  That's the only negative I've found.  

Hands down, in my opinion this is the best stamping polish available.    MdU has a better price as well as well as the ability to use over darker bases which you can't really do with Konad polishes.
