U.S.A. Nails

Anyone else getting caught with the Olympic bug?  I wanted to dress my nails for the opening ceremony.  I recycled one of my 4th of July Mani's with a twist for this one.

Started out with a base of CG Dandy Lyin' Around and Illamasqua Phallic.

Using masking tape I sectioned off the area for the stars and stripes.
I used Konad white and plate MJ VI for the stars.  The wavy stripes are made by using Konad Wine Red and Bundle Monster plate 210.  Finally I added silver striping tape to finish the look.
Here is a picture of the original.  I think I like the look of the original one better.

G O T Challenge - Green

Today's Golden Oldie Challenge is to use a green polish.  Should be simple right?  Wrong.

These are the polishes I used for today's mani.  CG Re-Fresh Mint, CG Four Leaf Clover, CG Jolly Holly.
I was planning on using Re-Fresh Mint as a base and than adding some lines and flower detail.  That was the plan.
After one disastrous nail I needed something to hide the failure.  I opted for a seran wrap base and some stamping.
I used CG Jolly Holly and Cheeky D plate for the stamping images.
Not my best work, but I wanted to share it anyway.

Playing with Mattes, Guides and Studs oh my

As I was organizing my nail art stash I found this polish and the nail guides hidden way in the back.  I took it as a sign to see what I could come up with.

I started off using MAC Black Enough?, which is a matte polish.

Using nail guides I sectioned off the area for the second color.
I used China Glaze Ruby Pumps as the second color.  A gorgeous red glitter just like Dorothy's shoes.
Next time I need to use a one coater so I wont have too many layers between the base and the secondary color.
Finally I added some studs to my nails using this handy dandy kit from Sally Hansen.

AIS Sunday Challenge - Animalistic

I didn't get a chance to do my Sunday challenge until late yesterday but I still want to share.

I started off with a base of China Glaze Dandy Lyon' Around
I added the zebra design using the MoYou Pro Collection plate 05 and Kleancolor in black.
I was testing out a new stamper so some of the zebras are a little wonky.

Panda with an Attitude

I broke out my plates to do a quick black and white mani.
Here is what I did.
Started off with CG Dandy Lyin' Around as the base.   This seems to be my go to shimmery off white.

I used two plates for the designs and Kleancolor in black.  For the spotted effect I used plate VL 009 from Vivid Lacquer.  For the panda I used  plate Rebel Collection 02 from MoYou London.

I bought the Rebel plate in hopes that I my 12 year old would let me do her nails using the panda image.  I was given an ugly look and told she can't wear that because the panda is holding guns, oh well.

I went ahead and added a matte TC

October Game day Nails

Alabama is taking on Arkansas today so I needed to have some game day nails.  Since it's October I went ahead and added some pink as well.  This is what I came up with.

Started off with a base of CG Dandy Lyin' Around, a shimmery white.

I added the houndstooth designs using DRK-A plate, KC Black and Konad pastel pink.

Halloween Nails - Spiders

As I was looking at my nail racks trying to get inspired, I heard my oldest daughter scream.  She saw a spider in her room.  After hunting down the spider I knew what I was going to do.
I used China Glaze Cast A Spell as the base coat.  This was from the 2012 Wicked Collection.  This is a black base with green and gold shimmer.
Application was nice and smooth.  I used two coats with a QD top coat.  I like to use a top coat when stamping just in case I make a mistake.  This way, if I'm careful I can only remove the stamp.

I added the spiders using Betina plate B-11 and Maybelline Bold Gold
I went ahead and added a matte top coat  to keep it from looking too girly.

Playing around with water marble

Thanks to TS Karen, we now have a lot of drinking water.  So I went ahead and decided to try doing some water marbling.

Started off with my favorite orange.  China Glaze Riveting, this was from the Hunger Games Collection.
This is such a bright, shimmery orange.

Here are the supplies I used.   Cup of water, clear polish and Sinful colors Black on Black, tape to keep the polish from getting all over  my fingers and a toothpick.
Alternate between black and clear polish until I have the desired amount of rings.(the rings should be better formed)
With your toothpick lightly drag the polish thru your rings,  creating whatever image you have in mind.
Once you place your finger over the design you want to keep it there until you remove the rest of the polish from the cup.  Do this by using the toothpick again to gather whatever is left.

Once again I can't leave anything alone, I went ahead and added a matte top coat.
